Smiles and sunshine greeted the eager parents awaiting their children’s A level and AS level results outside Wetherby High School today.
And the many broad grins were well deserved with a staggering 16 per cent rise on last year’s A* to B grades and the school’s highest figure for four years.
A level students receiving these top grades rose to 44 per cent this year.
A fifth of the year 13 students leaving the school attained some of the highest levels, securing A or A* in one or more of their chosen subjects.
And with 97 per cent of all students securing an A level qualification or exceeding personal targets, the school no doubt wishes every success to the impressive 2014 cohort.
Executive headteacher Simon Flowers said: “Wetherby High School is proud to celebrate the success of our students who have collected A level and AS level results.
“There have been notable achievements within this successful 2014 cohort with our students studying a broad range of subjects continuing to excel.
“Several students gained the highest grades in all their subjects studied, demonstrating our continued commitment to support students to achieve above and beyond, realising their full potential and we look forward to tracking our students’ future success as they move into a range of higher education, training and employment.
“These considerable achievements are a testament to the hard work, commitment and dedication of the governors, families, staff and - most importantly - students at Wetherby High School and we send our warmest congratulations to all those celebrating their successes.”
