A 13-year-old schoolgirl from Romanby has been celebrating after her dog won a top prize at Crufts.
Charlie Barber, who attends Allertonshire School in Northallerton, handled her 15-month-old Bichon Frise dog, called Fiyero’s Dancing Diva For Chazbam (Layla), in the Junior Bitch Class at Crufts, which was held at the NEC in Birmingham from March 8 - 11.
Layla was placed first in the class by judge Mrs J Daws.
Charlie is a member of the Young Kennel Club (YKC) and has three Bichons – Alfie, Buster and Layla.
She has been showing for three years and has become well-respected in the show world, often being asked to handle other people’s dogs.
Charlie travels across the country, showing at championship level from Edinburgh in Scotland to Paignton in Devon
Layla is Charlie’s newest dog and has already won many first places, best puppy in breed, best in breed and also a RCC (Reserve Challenge Certificate) at 10-months-old.
Crufts is the world’s largest dog show and was established in 1891.
