A dog who went missing when the car he was in was stolen in West Tanfield has been found safe.
Quinn the cocker spaniel was in a Ford Mondeo – which also contained a police staff uniform and identity card – which was taken from the village near Ripon on Monday, at 3pm,
A police spokesman said the dog and car were found in Ripon yesterday (Tuesday) and that Quinn had been taken to a local veterinary surgery for a check-up.
The missing police staff uniform and identification have also been recovered.
Earlier in the week, police issued a warning to householders to be on their guard against bogus housecallers purporting to be police officers.
– A 40-year-old man was arrested in Leeds at 12.20am on Tuesday in connection with the theft.
