Police investigate theft of Land Rovers

Boroughbridge police are appealing for information after two Land Rover Defenders were stolen from Whixley over a three day period.

The first, which is black and has the registration number X5HYG, was stolen sometime between 2pm on Saturday, May 5 and 5pm on Monday, May 7, from an address on Stonegate.

The second, which is silver/grey and has the registration number YH06YKC, was taken from another property on Stonegate between 11pm on Sunday 6 May and 8am on Monday 7 May 2012.

Police said it is a distinctive vehicle with black steel wheels and off-road tyres, black front bull bars, a roof bar with spotlights, a snorkel on the drivers side and a checkered design on the bonnet and sills.

PC Neil Roworth, of Boroughbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team, has appealed for help from members of the public who may have seen something.

He said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the Stonegate area of Whixley over the weekend between Saturday 5 and Monday 7 May 2012, to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
