A man harassed a woman in a Ripon supermarket car park by making crude and suggestive comments, leaving her feeling “shaken and distressed”.

He approached the woman on Friday, January 18 at 11.25am and tried to start a conversation with her. When the woman did not respond, the man started making crude and suggestive comments, North Yorkshire Police said.

The suspect is white, in his late-40s and approximately 5ft 3in with a stocky build. He has a pale complexion and fair ginger hair.

Police have released an E-fit, above, to help identify the harassment suspect.

PC Chris Hill, of Ripon Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This type of behaviour is utterly deplorable. The man’s comments left the woman feeling shaken and distressed.

“If you recognise the man, I urge you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

”I am also keen to speak with any other women who have been approached by the man and have not yet reported the incident.”
