Man assaulted twice

Police are appealing for a vital witness to a violent assault in Bedale to come forward.

A 26-year-old man was beaten twice by three youths. The man was walking on Exelby Road between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday, May 14. He was in the lay-by close to Bridge Grange Farm when a car stopped and three youths got out before attacking him. They left but returned shortly afterwards and attacked the man again.

Their victim was left with a black eye, bloodied nose and bruising to his face and head.

At the time of the incident a woman contacted the police to say she had seen a man in the lay-by, but she did not leave her details and police are asking her to call again.

PC Rebecca Corcoran, of the Bedale Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I am urging anyone who knows anything about this assault, and in particular the woman who contacted the police at the time, to come forward.

“I believe she may have vital information which could help to identify the offenders and I ask that she contacts the police straight away.”
