Residents at a Ripon care home had a treat when a couple of unusual visitors trotted in.

The residents at Sycamore Hall, on Kearsley Road, enjoyed a visit from two cute Shetland ponies, Angel and Dotty, from the Hope Pastures Rescue Centre in Leeds.

After the success of the ponies last visit to the home, residents were very pleased to see them again and give them a stroke and some carrots.

Their fun was not even held back by a case of bad weather that forced the party inside where they enjoyed tea, cakes and for Dotty and Angel, some carrots.

Linda Moor, from Sycamore Hall, said: “It was something different and positive for residents. It provided a change from the norm and added a bit of excitement.”

A tombola was held to raise money for Age UK and a raffle was also held, with the tickets being drawn next week, to help raise money for the Hope Pastures Centre which provides support for unwanted ponies.
