A driver has been arrested and released on police bail after a Ripon man died following a three-vehicle road crash near the city.
The collision happened about a mile from Ripon when a black Fiat hatchback travelling towards the city and a blue Volkswagen hatchback and red Mercedes travelling in the opposite direction collided on the B6265 Ripon to Boroughbridge Road on Sunday, September 23, at around 10.30am.
A passenger travelling in the Mercedes – 41-year-old Lloyd William Edwards, from Ripon – was taken to Harrogate District Hospital but died from his injuries on Tuesday, September 25.
The driver of the Mercedes, a woman in her 50s from the Ripon area, sustained slight injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The occupants of the Volkswagen were uninjured.
The driver of the Fiat, a man from Ripon in his 20s, also received hospital treatment and was arrested on Monday, October 1, in connection with the collision and subsequently bailed without charge.
