A middle-aged man has snatched three bottles of champagne from a Co-op store in Ripon.

The man, described as aged in his forties or fifties, stole a basket of items – including three bottles of champagne – from the store at Quarry Moor Garage, Harrogate Road, on Wednedsay, April 3 at 8pm.

Police said the offender was described by witnesses as having grey hair and glasses.

This is the third case of alcohol theft in the city this week.

In separate incidents, a man stole three bottles of spirits worth £56 from the same garage on Harrogate Road on Tuesday, March 26 at 2.40pm, and three bottles of spirits were also stolen from Lark Lane Post Office at 3.50pm on the same day.

Police are now appealing for witnesses of all the crimes. Call North Yorkshire Police on 101 if you have any information.
