Employing 38 people at its Hornbeam Park headquarters in Harrogate, it has grown rapidly since being founded in 2003 by husband and wife Tim and Jo Naughton.

“We’ve got a huge warehouse facility on the M1 in the South and we’ve got another in Germany – it’s a really slick logistics operation,” says Jo.

“We sell into France, Spain, Italy, and we’ve just opened in America. And we’re expanding into new European markets.”

Although the company is expanding, Jo doesn’t expect the headcount to grow substantially.

“It’s all about working smart, and that doesn’t just mean you get more bodies in,” she says.

“And it’s not just about just coming into work and doing a job. Every person here is making a very contribution to the success of the business. Everyone’s opinion is considered and valued. Happy people are great people. I’m proud of them all.”

As for the future, Jo has no worries: “There’s so much uncertainty in business at the moment that it’s impossible to say where we’ll be in five years’ time. But there’s certainly no nervousness from our point of view – people will still want to buy fairy lights! We’ll just keep on doing what we do, and keeping true to our values: best products, best price, best customer service.”
