All 7,000 businesses in the Harrogate district will receive an information leaflet on how le Tour could affect them from this month.

Businesses along the route will also receive an invitation to attend an event being held at the Great Yorkshire Showground on April 1.

Those attending will hear from lead officers at Harrogate Borough and North Yorkshire County Councils who will detail how plans are shaping up.

Nigel Avison, Director of Development Services and lead officer on the Tour for HBC said: “We have held off holding such an event for businesses until plans were a little more firm.

“We think the time is right now so that we can explain those plans.

It will also give businesses enough time to make their own arrangements and to make sure they can get the most out of the opportunities afforded by the Tour as it comes through the district on July 5 and 6.

The event will take place between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on April 1 in The Wharfe Room, The Pavilions, Great Yorkshire Showground.

Any business interested in attending can register online at www.harrogate.gov.uk/tdfbusiness
