A council planning meeting will be held today over the controversial development of Thorp Arch Trading Estate.
Leeds City Council’s City Plans Panel will be discussing the application at Leeds Civic Hall today from 12.30pm.
The Wetherby News reported last month how residents are currently battling plans to build up to 2,000 new homes on land they say was previously decreed unfit for such a development. The Thorp Arch Estate would create an entirely new village on land next to the Estate, near Wetherby.
But the housing masterplan has sparked anger among residents of nearby Thorp Arch village.
A similar proposal from site owners Rockspring Hanover Property Unit Trust to build 1,500 homes on the site was rejected in 2006.
