The co-founder of an independent Harrogate estate agents has launched a holiday cottage lettings business.

Chartered surveyor David Copley, formerly of Beadnall Copley, has joined marketing expert Susan Goss-Clements and sales specialist Robert Clements to establish a new business called Yorkshire Coastal Cottages.

The company, which is based in Wetherby, offers holidaymakers four, five and five star gold properties along Yorkshire’s coastline, from Saltburn-by-the-Sea in the north to Bridlington in the south.

The trio decided to set up the business after identifying a gap in the market to represent owners of such properties with a unique fully managed service. They are hoping to take advantage of the buoyant market resulting from the revival of coastal holidays in England.

“Consumers are increasingly demanding and want home-from-home luxury when they holiday; we don’t believe the standard booking agency model that dominates the sector adds sufficient value to owners or guests,” said David.

“We will be offering exclusive services in this niche market of top quality holiday properties with high levels of customer care, yet charge owners a competitive 15 per cent commission rate.”

Yorkshire Coastal Cottages has launched with a portfolio of 50 cottages, and is aiming to manage 100 cottages by the end of the year. The company is also planning to create up to 12 jobs with the opening of a coastal office.

Its services include a 24/7 advice line for guests and a total management service for cottage owners, including marketing, bookings, guest liaison, managing the weekly changeover, interior design, property maintenance and working with owners to get the best star rating.

Susan said: “The three partners bring together decades of experience across property, marketing, sales and tourism; the initial reaction from property owners to our proposition has been very positive.

Yorkshire has so much to offer - we want to be able to promote the Yorkshire holiday and provide a truly superior service for holidaymakers and property owners alike.”
