Ripon has been chosen as the first place in North Yorkshire to open a Salvation Army store, as the charity set up shop in the city this week.
Shoppers in Ripon got their first chance to do some bargain hunting in the charity shop on North Street after a special ceremony on Tuesday, February 19.
“We’ve been very busy getting the shop ready for a while now and the response from local residents has been fantastic,” said shop manager Clare Raven.
“People have been regularly popping by, keen to see what’s going on and how they can help. We’ve also had some very generous donations from locals so we’re absolutely thrilled and can’t wait to become part of the community here in Ripon,” she said. “We hope that now we’re open the local residents will enjoy shopping here as we’ve got some fabulous bargains on sale at very reasonable prices.”
The special opening ceremony included a blessing by Cpt Stephen Noble and Lt Angela Noble from the Ripon Corps of the Salvation Army. The shop sells clothes, accessories, bric-a-brac and household goods.
