Road closures will be put in place for Ripon Triathlon

Road closures for The Black Sheep Ripon Triathlon have been announced by organisers.

The race, which will be held at Ripon Race course on July 14, attracts more than 700 triathletes to take part in the Olympic distance triathlon.

For safety reasons certain stretches of the roads on the cycle leg will be closed to one-way traffic only.

There will be closures between Thorndikes Lane Minskip junction, through Staveley, Copgrove and Bishop Monkton to Knaresborough Road junction with A61.

Additionally a one-way road closure will be in place from Skelton Lane junction with B6252 Ripon, through Skelton Village, finishing at Skelton Road junction with Leeming Lane Boroughbridge.

They will be in force from 1.30pm to 4pm. Diversion routes have been planned to minimise any disruption these closures may cause.

John Kerr, Bike Race Director for the event said: “We hope that the one way road closure will not inconvenience the residents on affected roads too much. This is a great event, which is organised and run by volunteers. We hope local residents will support this event, which brings tourism to the area.”
