Nosterfield’s Freemason’s Arms is under new management.

Tim and Karen Butler – who met at the Milbank Arms, Well, where Karen was chef and Tim a customer – have taken over.

They previously ran the Rose and Crown, Slaley, and the White Horse, Ampleforth.

They were asked to take over by owner Kris Stephenson.

Karen said: “We are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to run the Freemasons Arms.

“We have known Kris for a very long time, and when he asked if we would be interested in running it on his behalf, we jumped at the chance.

“It’s a very popular ‘local’ and has a great reputation for food. We have already been made to feel very welcome and Theakston’s, whose cask ale we sell, have been very supportive.”
