Masham B&B scoops top TripAdvisor award

Travel website TripAdvisor awarded a Masham bed and breakfast a top prize for its “characterful and idiosyncratic” service.
Millgate B&B, run by Andrew and Sue Burrell, ranked first in the Traveller’s Choice bed and breakfast category, an annual prize awarded by the international travel website.
“We are absolutely delighted,” said Sue, 57, who has been running the B&B with her husband Andrew for only nine months.
“People have told us the service we provide is exceptional,” she said. “What people rave about is the building and the way it is decorated. It is a very quirky building.”
But Sue said the charm of the Grade II listed building is not the only feature which delights her guests.
“The guests love getting freshly baked scones when they arrive – it’s all about the little finishing touches,” she said.
And the Burrells’s finishing touches have seen the two-bedroomed B&B stack up 96 reviews on TripAdvisor in the last nine months – with 100 per cent of guests voting the B&B’s service as “excellent”.
Millgate’s first-class reviews mean it has been ranked not only top B&B in Masham but in the 25 best B&Bs in the UK and Europe, with TripAdvsisor lauding it as “unique” and “run with a painstaking attention to detail.”
Sue added: “It’s quite an honour.”
