Market ends due to poor attendances

LOW visitor numbers to Ripon’s monthly farmers’ markets was the reason its organisers decided to cancel the event.

Northern Dales Farmers Market (NDFM), which held the market on the third Sunday of every month, has confirmed it ran its last event in Ripon in October.

Nigel Davison, from NDFM, said: “It’s a shame because we had pride of place in the middle of the city. We thought it would work and we tried all sorts but it was down to low attendance.”

The Gazette contacted NDFM for clarification after readers got in touch to say they had found the market square unexpectedly empty on the scheduled farmers’ market days.
