A Thirsk pub has been named as the ‘Best Freehouse Pub in Great Britain.’ at the ‘Pub Oscars’.
The Carpenters Arms in Felixkirk won the title in The Great British Pub Awards 2011.
The pub, run by business partners Michael Ibbotson and Chris Blundell competed against six other regional winners for the overall title with Michael and Chris receiving their award from impressionist Rory Bremner at London’s Park Lane Hilton Hotel
The judges praised them for their entrepreneurial skills in revitalising the pub since purchasing it in August 2010 and doubling the turnover in the first year of trading.
The awards were organisedby Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

“It is great recognition for the pub and the staff.
