CEO to step down after five years at Augean
The chief executive of Wetherby-based waste management firm Augean is to leave the group.
In a statement on Tuesday, Augean announced that Paul Blackler had informed the board of his intention to move on to explore a new, unrelated opportunity in the energy and renewables sector.
The statement said: “As CEO over the past five years, Paul has been instrumental in leading the group during a period of significant development and change, during which time the group has grown both the scale and diversity of its activities.”
Augean said it had begun the recruitment process, part of which would include evaluating the appropriate leadership for the next phase of the its development. The company’s board anticipates a ‘smooth transition’ to Mr Blackler’s successor due to the notice period within his contract and the current management capacity within the business.
Chairman Jim Meredith said: “Paul has made a significant contribution to the Augean business over the past five years and I would like to thank him for that contribution and wish him well for the next stage of his career.”
He added: “The search for the best candidate to lead the business as it continues to grow and develop is already underway. We will ensure there is a suitable transition period and Paul has confirmed his willingness to assist us in this process. During this transition, the board and I will work closely with the management team at Augean to ensure that the group remains focused on achieving its key targets and objectives.”
Mr Blackler said: “I have greatly enjoyed my seven years at Augean, five of those as CEO. The group has been through a series of challenges during my tenure but thanks to the hard work of the whole team, we have made significant strides in reshaping the strategic direction and outlook for the group.”
