The Ripon branch of Yorkshire Building Society is proving small change can really make a difference by putting £1,000 donated by its members up for grabs to three local charities.

Colleagues at the branch on Market Place West are inviting people to call in and vote for their favourite of the three charities to decide how the money will be split in the Yorkshire Building Society Charity Choices campaign.

The charities in line for a cash boost are: Dementia Forward; Jennyruth Workshops; and the Ripon and Rural Wellbeing Service.

Rosanna Ferrazzano, manager of the Ripon branch of Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We know how important our chosen three charities are to our local community so we’re delighted to be making a donation to help them continue their important work.”

The Charity Choices campaign will launch on Friday, June 5, and run for two weeks. The number of votes received for each charity by Friday, June 19, will determine the amount of money each receives. The one with the most will receive £500, second place will get £300 and £200 will go to the charity in third place.

The campaign is part of the Small Change, Big Difference community scheme, where members of the society donate the pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts to good causes.
