Masham’s Theakston’s Brewery has signed up to continue its sponsorship of Ripon Rugby Club’s senior teams - a deal originally struck in the 1950s.

The club, which is 125 years old, has just signed a new long term deal with T&R Theakston Ltd, which will see the Masham-based brewers continue to have its name emblazoned across the front of the players’ shirts.

Theakston’s Executive Director Simon Theakston, pictured left with Ripon Rugby Club Chairman Andy Proud and Theakston’s Sales Development Manager Barry Gibb, said: “We are proud to be continuing our long term relationship with Ripon Rugby Club through our renewed sponsorship deal.

“The club was our first commercial sponsorship in a deal struck in the 1950s.

“The new kit looks fantastic, and we are thrilled the rugby shirts will continue to carry our name.

Andy Proud, Ripon Rugby Club chairman, said: “Our association with Theakston’s must be one of the oldest partnerships in Rugby Union. We are proud of our continued links to the brewery and our players wear their shirts with pride.”
