NORTHALLERTON-born swimmer Jo Jackson put in a brave effort as part of the British 4x200m freestyle squad which came home in fifth.

Jo, 26, who won the 400m freestyle bronze in Beijing, spent four years struggling with asthma to return to Team GB but didn’t manage to qualify for the race at London 2012.
