Boroughbridge Youth Club: there is an exciting new programme and a new team at Boroughbridge Youth Club which meets at the High School, Mondays from 7-9pm for Years 7 and 8 and Thursdays from 7-9pm for Year 9 plus. Coffee morning: there is a coffee morning in St James Church, Boroughbridge on Saturday from 10am-noon.
Music and Mirth: there will be an evening of music and mirth at the Coronation Hall on Saturday, 7pm for 7.30pm. This is a musical rendezvous with affectionate tributes to some of England’s finest variety star by a local but renowned cabaret and pantomime star, Judith Hibbert. Boroughbridge and District Historical Society: the next meeting of the historical society is on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Jubilee room above Boroughbridge library when Geoff Craggs will speak about The Royal British Legion. Amblers: the group has a four mile walk at Spofforth Pinnacles on Wednesday, led by Mo and Chris B. Please meet in the car park in Back Lane for a 10am start and, for more information, please contact 01423 322112. Lifts are available and transport sharing is encouraged. Later in the month, on Wednesday, October 23, the Amblers have a four mile walk at Newby and Brampton, led by Linda and Brian. For this walk the group is catching the 9.35am bus from Boroughbridge Market Place to Skelton, arriving there at 9.45am for the start of the walk that ends back in Boroughbridge. WI: the Aldborough, Boroughbridge and Dunsforth WI meets on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Aldborough Village Hall. This month’s meeting is with the Bedale Community Bakery.
Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Society: after the celebrations for the pearl anniversary, at the October meeting, to be held in the library meeting room on Thursday at 7.30pm, Geoff Craggs will give a presentation on the history of the Royal British Legion and the work of the Boroughbridge branch. Great Ouseburn Beer Festival: this year’s festival takes place next weekend and new for 2013 is the session Friday, October 11 from 7-11pm featuring Rockett 88. On Saturday, October 12 from 1-10pm there is music from Jonny C and the Blue Assassins, Broken Empire and The Blue Kings. the festival is at Great Ouseburn Village Lane, Lightmire Lane, Great Ouseburn and entry is £5 which includes a festival glass and programme. The event includes live bands, raffle, pie and peas and twenty Yorkshire real ales and is a fund raiser for Jenny Ruth Workshops and Great Ouseburn Village Organisation.
Sequence dance: there is a sequence dance in the Coronation Hall next Saturday, October 12 from 7-10.30pm. The admission charge of £2 includes tea and biscuits.

Church services: Aldborough holds its harvest festival at 7pm this evening, followed by the Harvest Festival Supper. Roecliffe’s Harvest Festival is tomorrow at 7pm. On Sunday there is a toddlers’ service at Aldborough at 9.10am, Parish Communion at Dunsforth at 9.30am, Parish Communion at Aldborough at 10.45am and Evensong at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 6.30pm. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. Kirby Hill Church has a pet service at 6.30pm. On Monday there is Holy Communion in Roecliffe Vestry at 11.30am and on Wednesday there is Holy Communion at St James Church at 10.45am.
