Coffee Morning: at St James Church, Boroughbridge on Saturday from 10am-noon.

Jubilee Room Open Morning: BACLA, Boroughbridge Community Library, invites you or your organisation to have a look around the Jubilee Room above the library in St James Square on Saturday from 10am-1pm. You will be able to see what this community facility can be used for, have a cup of tea, see how the room is being utilized at the moment and find out how you can maybe use it. The room is available for hire any day any time and is ideal for meetings, seminars, training sessions, rehearsals as well as many other kinds of uses. Beer Festival: the Great Ouseburn Beer Festival takes place on Saturday from noon-10pm in Great Ouseburn Village Hall. Entry to the festival is £5 which includes a festival glass and programme. The event includes live bands, a raffle, pie and peas and twenty Yorkshire real ales. The event is a fund raiser for Jenny Ruth Workshops and Great Ouseburn village organisations. Harvest Festival: Boroughbridge Methodist Church  holds its Harvest Festival this Saturday and Sunday, with contributions from the community. The theme this year is “for the beauty of the earth” with contributions of flowers, fruit, scarecrows, paintings, photographs. Anything which enhances the beauty of God’s creation, stirs us and gives us pleasure is most welcome.  Lunch will be served on both days and all are welcome.

Boroughbridge And District Historical Society: at the AGM on Tuesday Barbara Dixon will give a talk on the history of registration looking at births marriages and deaths. The meeting, to be held on the library meeting room, begins at 7.30pm. For further details about joining the group please contact 01423 322988.

WI: the Aldborough, Boroughbridge and Dunsforth WI meets on Wednesday in Aldborough Village Hall at 7.30pm. This month the subject is Fodder with Heather Parry.

Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association: the October meeting of the Boroughbridge branch, to be held in the Jubilee room above Boroughbridge library on Thursday, is a demonstration of ceramic modelling by Eric Londesborough. Hightimers Panto this year’s pantomime is A Yorkshire Christmas Carol written by Barbara Brodigan and Charles Dickens. Rehearsals are now underway on Sundays at the Coronation Hall in Milby from 7pm. Anyone interested in helping either front of house or backstage please contact any committee member, details are on the website www.thehightimers.org.uk, or come along to a rehearsal. The show will be presented on Thursday, November 29, Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1 and then the following week Thursday, December 6, Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8. Please look out for more details about the performances later.

Dance School: the Lynne Unitt School of Dance, now in its 23rd year, has re-started classes both in the Coronation Hall Boroughbridge on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Harrogate Road Methodist Church Hall in Ripon on Thursdays from 4.15pm. Following the success of 15 pupils who took their various ballet and tap external examinations with the International Dance Teacher Association back in March, pupils are now working towards their next examinations which will be held in the first part of 2013. The IDTA is updating all its ballet exams which were shown to dance teachers at the Sheffield Teaching Meeting in September. Lynne Unitt will be teaching the new Preparatory, Primary and Grade 1 from now on, so now is the ideal time to start lessons. To enrol, or for further information, please contact Lynne on 01423 322903 All pupils successful in their exams up to March 31 2013 will be eligible to claim the special award from the IDTA to commemorate both the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic games in 2012. 
 Mobility Exercise mobility classes for the slightly older ladies has re-started in the suite above Boroughbridge Library every Thursday 10-11am, run by the Lynne Unitt School of Dance. New members are welcome and the exercises are medically approved. Full insurance and CRB certificate are held by Mrs Unitt. 

Bridge Club: the Coronation Hall Bridge Club is welcoming new members. The club meets every Friday afternoon from 1.15-4pm at the Coronation Hall. You do not need a partner to play and any standard of play is welcome. During Barbara’s holiday absence please contact Barbara and David Matthews on 01423 322614. Church Services: Roecliffe holds its Harvest Festival tomorrow at 7pm. On Sunday there are services of Parish Communion at Dunsforth at 9.30am and at Aldborough at 10.45am with Evensong at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 6.30pm. On Wednesday there is Holy Communion at St James Church at 10.45am and on Thursday Aldborough holds its Harvest Festival at 7pm.
