Charity Curry Evening: Boroughbridge Lions have a charity curry evening on this evening at the Shahi Raj Restaurant on Fishergate in Boroughbridge to raise money for Harrogate Eye Laser Project, a Lions project to raise £82,000 for a new laser scanner for Harrogate District Hospital. There are two sittings, at 6pm and at 8pm, with the two course meal priced at £12.95. This includes a choice of both starter and main course. Fabulous Food Festival: Boroughbridge High School invites you to its Fabulous Food Festival, a celebration of Yorkshire’s finest food and drink, at the school on Saturday from 10am-1pm. There is a cookery demonstration by local celebrity chef Stephanie Moon of Great British Menu and ex-student Chris Root, both of Rudding Park. The event also includes a farmers’ market, children’s activities and refreshments.
Fundraising Coffee Morning: there is a fundraising coffee morning with bacon sandwiches and a cake stall at Marton-cum-Grafton village hall on Saturday from 10am-noon, in aid of Boroughbridge Community Care.
Yorkshire Countrywomen: the Boroughbridge branch of the Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association meets next Thursday, June 11 at 7.30pm in the Jubilee Suite above Boroughbridge Library. Sequence Dance there is a sequence dance next Saturday, July 13 in the Coronation Hall from 7-10.30pm. The admission charge of £2 includes tea and biscuits.
Holy Hits: next Sunday, July 14, 7.30pm in the Coronation Hall, come and sing along to all your favourite hits from Joseph, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar and listen to some performances of great music on religious themes from members of our community. This is great fun for all the family and a night not to be missed.
Yorevision AGM: will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 6.30pm in the Jubilee Room at Boroughbridge Library.
Dance Class: the Lynne Unitt School of Dance is starting a new infant ballet and tap class for girls and boys from three and a half-years old. The classes start in September in the Bradley Studio at the Coronation Hall, every Tuesday from 4-4.45pm. There is a free taster class on Tuesday from 4-4.45pm when children can be enrolled. Children from the dance school also took part in the Dunsforth Country Fair last Saturday and children are prepared for International Dance Teachers’ Association exam syllabus and medals. The mobility classes held in the Jubilee room above Boroughbridge Library on Thursday mornings are still running but will close during August, re-starting in September.
Church Services this Sunday there is Parish Communion at Dunsforth at 9.30am and evensong at St James Church, Boroughbridge at 6.30pm. Boroughbridge Methodist Church has Sunday Worship at 10.30am. There are services of Holy Communion at Skelton at 9.30am and at Kirby Hill at 11am with Sacred Space at Kirby Hill at 6.30pm. On Monday there is Holy Communion at Roecliffe at 11.30am. On Wednesday there is Holy Communion at St James Church at 10.45am.
