Firefighters have battled a blaze at a barn near Boroughbridge.

The fire brigade was called to Branton Lane, Great Ouseburn at around 4pm yesterday, Saturday, May 4, where a wooden shed measuring around six by four metres was on fire.

Fire crews from Boroughbridge and Acomb were at the scene but the barn, which contained vehicle parts, was completely destroyed by flames.

A butane gas cylinder standing outside the shed suffered slight heat damage in the fire, as did some neighbouring properties.

A fire service spokesman said the cause of the fire is not yet determined.
