The Ripon and Harrogate volunteers of the charity collection known as Operation Christmas Child are in desperate need of some temporary local warehouse space in the area during November and December.
The campaign, which is part of the international Samaritan’s Purse Christmas shoebox project, collects thousands of wrapped and filled shoeboxes from our area every year and they are in turn sent to children in need or living in poverty overseas.
In order to check and seal each box and pack them into containers ready for shipping, the volunteers need a suitable, dry space for about six weeks – from November 1 to mid-December.
Organiser Jan Harris said: “If anyone has a unit that we are able to make use of for this short period we would be most grateful.”
The size of the unit should be larger than 2,500 sq ft, if possible, and requires electricity and toilet facilities. The volunteers need access on weekdays and some evenings and weekends.
