Acclaimed Harrogate bar celebrates its first birthday

Since it first opened 12 months ago, the North Bar, which looks across to the back of Harrogate Theatre, has become a popular destintation for beer lovers, coffee drinkers and ‘hipsters’ of all ages.

An offshoot of one of Leeds’ most successful independent bar chains, the pioneering North Bar, when Harrogate’s opened on Cheltenham Parade it instantly became the biggest one in the entire operation.

Renowned for serving an ever-changing rota of quality craft beer from micro-breweries and independents from Yorkshire to America from its 12 taps - as well as spirits, wine, coffee and pastries - as befits its quirky nature, Harrogate North Bar can even boast a genuine photobooth.

Unusually for a bar in Harrogate, the North Bar opens at 8am - but for coffee drinkers!

Since it first opened in Leeds in 1997, the North Bar has expanded to a range of six bars in and around the city.

Still regarded as one of the Yorkshire pioneers of the craft beer bar boom, it has built a national reputation over the last decade and is rated one of the top 10 craft beer pubs in Yorkshire by both The Guardian and the Daily Telegraph.

North Bar co-director John Gyngell said “We were made very welcome by the people and businesses in Harrogate very quickly. We’ve always been keen to collaborate with other independents and foster relationships locally.”

This Saturday’s celebrations at the North Bar will see special ales, free cake and balloons - obviously.
