LOCAL promoters DMB have a double bill of brilliant one-man bands in the shape of Napoleon IIIrd supported by Dan Webster of The Birdman Rallies at The Golden Lion in Ripon on Friday, March 12 .
Mr IIIrd, who recently supported Wild Beasts on tour, is signed to Brainlove Records has been described as "The Beach Boys in Mr Wilson's sandpit, wrestling with John Cage's baby boy who is currently learning to play the trumpet."

One of Leeds' finest exports, he played a fanatastic set for Charm in Harrogate at Monteys most recently.

Back by popular demand is Dan Webster whose band Harrogate/York band The Birdman Rallies have been played on both Radio 1 and Radio 2 in the last year, despite being unsigned.

This multi-instrumentalist makes being brilliant look easy.

DMB's next big indie gig after that takes place on Saturday, March 27, with a hotly-tipped Glasgow-based experimental indie-pop outfit with slight folk leanings called Zoey Van Goey who have been signed by Chemikal Underground Records (once home of Mogwai).

Their debut single was produced by none other than Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian and were described by Gideon Coe on BBC6 Music as "very splendid" and by Clash magazine as "anthemic, insightful indie-folk with wonderful sparkles of humour."

Support comes from talented Harrogate singer-songwriter Ade Payne.

Tickets for both shows costing £8 (£6 students) are available from 01765 605987 or by emailing dmb@dmblivemusic.co.uk

HARROGATE rock legends Wally's new album has won airplay on music broadcasting legend Bob Harris's Radio 2 show.

Both Sister Moon and Giving from the band's new album Montpllier, their first for 36 years, have received airings to an audience of millions.

The five remaining members of Wally - Paul Middleton (Pedal Steel and Bass), Pete Sage (Violin), Roger Narraway (Drums), Nick Glennie-Smith (Keyboards) and Roy Webber (Lead Vocals and guitar) - plus two new musicians.
