Successful businessman Jamie Lennox first saw legendary guitarist Pat Mcmanus in the 1970s at a gig at St George's Hall in Bradford featuring The Groundhogs, Stray and Gentle Giant.
Having followed his career since then, including his spell in 1980s' power trio Mama's Boys and later when he and his brother John were in Celtus, Lennox, CEO of Home-tek International Limited, decided it was about time the great man paid Harrogate a visit.
Said Jamie: "Pat's current band tour France, Italy and, of course, their native Ireland frequently but haven't been seen much over here in England – so I decided to put that right."
"I approached Simon and Sharon Colgan who run the West Park Hotel. They're such fantastic people and so enthusiastic about the live music scene. They agreed to the whole thing."
Lennox, whose firm is an electrical importer/distributor selling Ainsley Harriott products, has now set a date for the big night – Friday, December 11 – and picked a support act, local band The Growlers.
"Harrogate music fans are in for a real treat. It's going to be a real party night of blues/rock music. If this gig proves successful, then I'm already planning to bring GMT (Bernie Torme, John McCoy and Robin Guy) to come and blast Harrogate's eardrums," added Jamie.
