Members of the Ripon Activity Project have been showcasing their skills at the group’s annual talent contest.

The event for the group – which provides a range of leisure, recreational and craft activities for people between 16 and 65 with learning and/or physical disabilities – was held at the Youth Centre in the grounds of Outwood Academy Ripon.

Among those attending the event were the Mayor and Mayoress of Ripon, Coun Mick Stanley and his wife Gill, the Mayor and Mayoress of Boroughbridge, Coun Graham Archer and his wife Ann, and the Mayor of Pateley Bridge, Coun Christine Skaife and her consort, Coun Ian Skaife.

RAP’s chairman, Jerry Anderson, acted as compere and the three mayors plus the Mayor of Ripon’s serjeant, Geoff Johnson, acted as judges for the various acts which included singing, dancing, playing a saxophone and a poetry recital.

Rebekah Evason impressed everybody with her dancing and was the overall winner of the Margaret Cawthorne Talent Contest Trophy, which was presented to her by the Mayor of Ripon. Stevie Blair was a close runner up with his singing and saxophone playing.

The annual pool competition also took place and was won for the third year in succession by Oliver Harrison. The RAP Pool trophy was presented to Oliver by Tim Robinson, a long standing RAP volunteer.
