Masham’s Sports Association is celebrating after securing another 50 years at their sports fields.
After years of discussion, the club has signed a lease with the Masham Parish Council who own the ground on The Avenue, Masham, making the site available to members for another 50 years.
Sports Association Chairman Paul Baker said:
“We are extremely pleased to secure the site.
“The chairman on the parish council, Andrew Burrell, and I were very pleased to get together and bring things to this conclusion.”
The Sports Association’s facilities include cricket and football pitches, tennis courts and quoits. They field adult and junior teams in local league including a successful cricket team.
They have recently started opening the tennis courts to Masham Primary School for weekly PE lessons, and run junior cricket and tennis coaching sessions to get young people interested in sports.
The association has used the site for more than 50 years.
