Moor Music Festival preview

MOOR Music Festival returns in a few weeks' time having been hailed as as one of the Top 30 best festivals in the UK last year by NME.

Held at Heslaker Farm near Skipton from August 12-15, it will feature a wide range of acts ranging across three different sections.

This year, there's also a new early start on a Thursday for a longer music-filled weekend.

The Homespun tent is home to the dance scene with Dubstep, Drum and Bass booming with plenty of vibes.

Hosting the section are Herbal Mafia who also specialise in Reggae, Funk and Soul and have been responsible for changing the face of the underground dance scene in York.

The Green Room is where the roots of the festival lie - an indoor/outdoor lounge chilled out affair with plenty of art to look to, and acoustic sounds too.

It might be worth going to see Mathilde on the Friday who are five artists combining the media of dance and music as well as the wonderful Napoleon IIIrd the same night.

Saturday includes the amazing Amoeba to Zebra, a concept album/visual extravaganza/natural history of the world conjured up by top Leeds band Being 747.

Acoustic fans should check out Leeds based songwriter, Jon Gomm on a Sunday whose influences include Jack Johnson and Radiohead.

The Earl Hickey Lounge is probably the most unique, as it ranges with a bit of everything on offer.

From heavy rock to progressive electro, there are plenty of unsigned talents to check out from the North. Leeds's answer to the current Indie-folk-pop scene taking over the UK are Ellen and the Escapades who play on the Friday.

Also worth checking out on a Sunday are Manchester boys, Dutch Uncles who have supported the Futureheads and Bombay Bicycle Club in recent times.

As always, the festival has plenty on offer for people off all ages with arts, food, shopping at the Northern Green Gathering and even selling camper vans.

Tickets are on sale from.moormusicfestival.co.uk - adult weekend tickets are 85, day tickets, 35 with a family ticket costing 210.

Ticket outlets are also available from Pear Records in Knaresborough and Jumbo Records and Crash Records in Leeds.
