LIVE REVIEW: Dan Cope destined for big things
Haiti Appeal gig with Oxjam, Blues Bar, Harrogate.
THERE has to be something in the waters of Harrogate that we a plethora of talented young singer-songwriters in our fine town.
The latest find is one Daniel Cope. Daniel offers his audience a sincere and heartfelt performance of his own material with the occasional cover, version more to amuse himself than for the audience.
His voice is powerful, beyond his slight frame and skinny jeans, His music has melody, rhythm and meaning and demands to be listened to.
The haunting chant of I believe in you is a beautifully-structured song presented with the presence of a man many years his senior and. Other songs worthy of note include Into the Light, Promise you'll be strong and a personal favourite Hold me in your Arms.
As a solo performer Daniel has great presence and a calm about him that creates just the right atmosphere to make people want to listen. With his band behind him he is a force to be reckoned with and a polished performer solo or with his band.
For a charity evening the crowd was not huge but they were all listening, recognising talent when they hear it.
For this evenings show no matter what sort of water people were drinking in the Blues Bar they were listening to the phenomena that is Daniel Cope.
Put this boy top of your list of must see talent. This boy is destined for big things.
