Hambleton swimmers have raised over £6,000 for charity.
Following the launch of the district council’s ‘BIG Swim’ campaign earlier this year, all four leisure centres set their swimmers the ‘2012 Challenge’ – a 20-day sponsored swim to raise funds for Help For Heroes.
The challenge was open to people of all ages and abilities with three different levels available. Bronze gave the swimmer 20 days to swim 1,200m, silver 20 days to swim 12 lengths every day, and gold 20 days to swim 12km.
Over 50 people took part in the challenge ranging from eight-year-olds swimming on their own to a 60+ swim group. The BIG Swim is a year-long celebration of aquatics as part of the build-up to the 2012 games. For updates throughout the year visit hambletonleisure.co.uk
