Band concert to help sick children

NORTHALLERTON Silver Band is holding a concert to raise money for chronically sick children.
Members will be performing at the Catholic Hall on Thirsk Road in Northallerton on Saturday, March 3, at 7.30pm in aid of the Bubble Foundation – a charity which supports children lacking an immune system who are treated using bone marrow transplants.
Musical director Dave Prest said: “These children are in complete isolation living in a sterile bubble which measures 8ft square for a minimum period of three months and in some cases up to two years while receiving and recovering from their treatment completely separated from their families and friends.”
The band was inspired to raise the money by seven-year-old Kyle Spencer, who is having to undergo a bone marrow transplant at The Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle because a medical condition leaves him without an immune system.
