Visitors to Fountains Abbey can trip the light fantastic this autumn as the long tradition of floodlighting returns to the magnificent ruins.

Taking place every Saturday in October, and the first Saturday in November, visitors can enjoy a feast for all the senses as the monastic ruins are filled with light and music.

The event takes place from 5-9.30pm and admission is half-price or free for National Trust and English Heritage members.

Each Saturday night the National Trust has also organised an excellent local choir to perform in the vaulted cellarium from 7.30-8.30pm.

There will also be free guided tours of the abbey at 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
