A group from Ripon charity Scuba Diving For All has paid a visit to the Blue Planet aquarium at Ellesmere Port for an unforgettable experience diving with sharks.

The team was made up of Archie and Yvonne Covell, founders of Scuba Diving for All, together with members Dez Sanderson, Alistair Moffat, Geoff and Heather Morris, and Trevor White.

They were accompanied by four divers with special needs – Richard Armitage, Simon Wiltshire, Christopher Stansfield and Martin Grainger.

Each diver was accompanied by two SDA team members and a safety team from the Blue Planet and spent around 15 minutes exploring the aquarium and watching the sharks and rays cruising majestically around them, often coming within touching distance.

The new leopard shark, Dotty, was particularly inquisitive and came right up to the divers to observe them.

Yvonne said: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed a unique experience and thanks must go to the management and staff of the Blue Planet for providing the divers with this wonderful opportunity.”
