Brandon the Lion, will be sneaking out of his enclosure and heading to Newby Hall this weekend.
Brandon, who is the mascot for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, will be joining the runners at the Yorkshire 10k and 2k Fun Run at Newby Hall on Sunday.
The 10k race, in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, attracts around 400 runners. and there is still a chance to take part by registering on the day.
Skelton Primary School, children will be joining the fun with their parents in the 2k Fun Run which Brandon the Lion will also be running.
Pat Kilpatrick, Regional Fundraising Manager for Yorkshire and the North East Cystic Fibrosis Trust said: “This run is one of our best fundraising events in North Yorkshire and we are very grateful to the Compton family for allowing it to take place at Newby Hall.
“This is the eighth Yorkshire 10K Run and in this very special sporting year, we want it to be the best so far. It is a really great event, to help a fantastic cause.”
Also joining the run this year is 19-year-old Sophie Wood, who has Cystic Fibrosis.
Sophie is an EU 400 Metres Hurdles finalist and will be running the Yorkshire 10k.
“I wanted to encourage people to join in and take part in this great race,” Sophie said.
“It is one of the running highlights and I’m looking forward to the challenge. I feel proud to be able to fly the flag for people with Cystic Fibrosis.”
