LEEDS Symphony Orchestra will be playing in Knaresborough tomorrow with a concert at King James's School.
Conductor, Martin Binks, pictured, will lead the orchestra through works from composers including Mozart, Liszt and Franck in the concert starting at 7.30pm.
Knaresborough-born Martin is celebrating his 40th year as conductor of Leeds Symphony Orc
hestra. Two years ago, he marked 40 years as conductor of West Riding Opera and he has also been conductor of Knaresborough Choral Society for ten years.
Four soloists will feature in Haydn’s Sinfonia Concertante. Violinist Rosemary Milner and bassoonist Vicki Elliott will be joined by Elizabeth Kenwood-Herriott on oboe and Mark Webb on cello for the challenging concerto - unusual in that it features four soloists as opposed to the usual one.
The full programme will also include the Overture to comic opera, The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart and the work of Romantic composers, Liszt with Orpheus, a Symphonic Poem and Vincent d’Indy’s La Foret Enchantee.
After the interval, the orchestra will play Cesar Franck’s Symphony in D Minor, recently voted one of the 12 most popular symphonies ever written.
