Maundy team looking for more recruits

THE next Maundy Celebrations Events sub-committee meeting will be taking place on Monday, February 8 in the Council Chamber at Knaresborough House at 7.30pm.
Preparations for this year’s 800th anniversary celebrations of the giving of the first Maundy money in Knaresborough by King John, are moving ahead with the focus on a celebratory day at Knaresborough Castle on Easter Saturday, April 3.

Christine Willoughby, the Maundy Celebrations Working Group Secretary and Events Chair would welcome anyone willing to help out to come along and join the team.

Monday’s meeting will see an update on the planned re-enactment at the Castle and details about the presentation of specially-produced Maundy coins to deserving recipients in Knaresborough.

All local primary school children will also receive a celebratory coin to mark the special occasion.

Further meetings at Knaresborough House are planned for: Tuesday, February 23 - Full Working Group 7.30pm; Tuesday, March 2, Events sub-committee meeting 7.30pm and Monday, March 22 - Full Working Group 7.30pm.
