COULD your bike be among a mountain of stolen property which remains unclaimed at Harrogate police station?
A large number of pedal bikes, as well as motorbikes and power tools, were siezed from a property in March.

PC Adrian Lilley of Harrogate CID has urged residents to check their sheds and garages, which may have been unused over winter, to make sure nothing has been taken.

Police also siezed two tool boxes which they said are very distinctive and could be easily identified by their owner.

PC Lilley said the unidentified property was a reminder to everyone to check their sheds, make them safe and keep good records of their property.

He added: "When you are spending anything between £300 and £400 on a bike, you ought to be taking note of the serial number, the make and the frame size."

PC Lilley asked anyone who thought any of the property could belong to them to contact him or DC Michelle Breen at Harrogate CID on 0845 6060247.

Cyclists can also call that number to find out about North Yorkshire Police's cycle marking service, stamping the postcode on bikes to make it easier for them to be identified if they are stolen.
