A PENSIONER was killed and another man injured in a three-car collision on the Harrogate to Knaresborough Road on Thursday, March 4.
Three cars were involved in the accident on the A658 at 5.45pm, at the junction to Thistle Hill.

An 81-year-old woman from Leeds was killed in the crash.

Another man, a 39-year-old from Thirsk, was also injured, and a third driver, a 48-year-old Harrogate woman, escaped the collision uninjured.

The accident happened when a blue Honda Jazz, driven by the Leeds pensioner and pulling out of the Thistle Hill junction, was in collision with a white Ford Escort travelling from the direction of Harrogate. The Escort then hit a black Toyota Corolla travelling in the opposite direction.

Police said collision investigators closed the road for six hours as they examined the scene.

They are now appealing for any witnesses to contact TC Steve Wright of the Harrogate Road Policing Group on 0845 6060247.

AN ERROR by North Yorkshire Police stated that the accident took place on Wednesday. The force has now clarified that it took place on Thursday.
