A very successful open evening with an Italian theme was held on Wednesday April 2 when Hamer Lombardi, ably assisted by his wife Angela, gave a cookery demonstration to a large and very appreciative audience. The hall of the Mechanics Institute was
decorated for the occasion in red, white and green, even down to the cloths and sprays of flowers on the tables. Hamer, who is well known throughout Kirkby Malzeard and district, produced a typical Italian meal of Petto Di Pollo Alla Pizziola (chicken breast in pizziola sauce) and Tirami su (original version). During the course of the demonstration he offered a number of practical and useful tips which will no doubt be put to good use. Hamer and Angela were thanked by Janet Jordan. The demonstration was followed by a quiz with an Italian theme. Our thanks to Derek Weatherer for setting the questions. The evening was rounded off, to the accompaniment of Italian music, with a delicious Italian-style buffet supper prepared by the committee, who would like to thank all those who generously contributed.

The next meeting is in the Mechanics Institute Village Hall at 7.15pm on Wednesday May 7, when Steve Darling and Kate will introduce members to the locally based Castabella Ceilidh Band. The competition is for a pencil case.
