Praying for good weather for Ripon Cathedral Beer Festival

Organisers of Ripon Cathedral’s popular Beer Festival are praying for good weather in time for this year’s event.

The festivities are set to take place on May Day, Monday May 7, from 11.30am – 5.30pm.

Local businesses have sponsored this year’s event to help raise more money than ever for the cathedral’s Repairs and Renewals Appeal.

Hambleton Ales and The Water Rat, Ripon are once again supporting this year’s event by taking delivery of the beers from breweries from all over Yorkshire.

The 2012 Beer Festival will feature a selection of 30 different “northern” ales including Hambleton Bitter and Stallion, Wold Top Bitter, Rudgate Viking, Roosters, Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor’s, Theakston’s, and Wharfebank Brewery and lots more.

There will also be a local cider, grown and produced at Old Sleningford Farm near Ripon, along with wine, Pimms and soft drinks on sale.

There will be live music and hot food prepared by Lockwoods on Location, including a hog roast, and a bouncy castle and face painting for children.

Musicians Holly Taymar, Two Well Worn, Rebekah Findlay, FiddLyn Man Doris, and local band MIME will be playing and new bands include King Courgette, Farrah, and Aaron Bertenshaw.

Entrance to the event costs £2.50 for adults, including a chance to win a Booths Beer Hamper, donated by Booths of Ripon.

Funds raised at this event will go towards essential Repairs and Renewals Appeal.
