West Tanfield and District Flower Club: meets on Thursday, January 17 at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. Staff and students who run and work at The Walled Garden, Ripon are visiting. Entrance fee, £3. All welcome.

St Aiden’s School Symphonic Wind Band: in concert at Masham Town Hall tonight, Thursday, January 17 at 7.30pm. They will be presenting a varied programme including classics, themes from popular films and marches. In aid of Masham Branch of Cancer Research and St Michael’s Hospice, Harrogate. Adult tickets cost £5, under 14s, £3. Tickets available on the door.

West Tanfield Village Lunch: will be held in the village hall on Sunday, January 20 from 12.30pm. If you are interested in joining, please call Ann Stainthorpe on 01677 470 961. Tickets are £10 per person. Please speak to Ann about family tickets.

Holy Communion: at St Mary’s Church, Masham on Sunday, January 20 at 10.45am and Evensong at West Tanfield at 4pm.

Masham Plough Service: at St Mary’s Church, Masham on Sunday, January 20 at 6.30pm. Prayers will be said for all those involved in the agricultural industry. The Highside Longsword Dancers will perform after the service and then mulled wine and sausages will be served. All welcome.

Open Events Meeting: on Monday, January 21 at Masham Town Hall at 7pm. All are welcome to come and discuss future events to promote Masham in the Market Square and Town Hall throughout 2013. Bring along your ideas - all welcome.

Masham Local History Group: Brewing in Masham is the title of Richard Howard’s illustrated talk for the Masham Local History Group at Masham Town Hall on Tuesday, January 22 at 7.30pm. Richard, who lives in Masham, will give an illustrated talk on the development of the brewing industry in the Masham area. He began his research in 1998 as part of a local history course. Non members are welcome and are charged £3 per meeting which includes refreshments. Movies in Masham: the new spring programme starts on Tuesday, February 5 at Masham Town Hall, opening with Salmon Fishing in the Yemen at the new start time of 7.30pm. Wine and soft drinks, popcorn, sweets from Bah Humbugs. Individual tickets £5 or the Movies in Masham season ticket allows you into all ten films for just £25.
