THE Boroughbridge mayor-making last Thursday saw Coun Liz Vose take up the mantle of town mayor for a second consecutive year, with Coun Freda Cooper as her deputy.
Coun Vose thanked all her fellow councillors for the work they put in during her 2008/9 term of office and hoped her plans and aspirations for the coming year will come to fruition.

Her chosen charity for 2008/9 was the Boroughbridge and District mini bus appeal for which she collected an enormous £9,750.

For this year, Coun Vose said she wanted to concentrate her fundraising efforts on providing for the young people of the town. She is planning to set up a fund so that young people's groups and organisations needing financial help can apply for a grant.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the Mayor's Fund can contact Coun Vose at the town council office in Hall Square, by calling 01423 322956 or by visiting the Boroughbridge website at www.boroughbridge.org.uk.
