BOROUGHBRIDGE Town Council's community website has seen record numbers of visitors and reached two particular milestones in 2008 - one million 'hits' during the year and, for the first time, 3,000 visitors during a single month.
Launched in February 2006, the website was conceived by the town council, which also manages and hosts the site. It is a not for profit community website funded through advertising from local businesses.

Mayor of Boroughbridge, Coun Liz Vose, said: "It is a valuable resource supporting local residents and tourism. I am delighted that the latest figures show that the Boroughbridge website continues to grow in popularity."

In addition to supporting local business and tourism, the website has become a valuable resource to local residents, with information as diverse as items on local history, emergency contact numbers and services for the area, upcoming events and tourist information.

Several exciting new initiatives are under development to further broaden the scope of information provided.

Visit the website at http://www.boroughbridge.org.uk.
