HARROGATE Phoenix Players' will be welcoming one of TV's top writers and playwrights when its next production takes place in the Royal Hall.
Taking place on Saturday, May 17, A Royal Hall Gala Concert will be compered by Leeds-born Kay Mellor, acclaimed writer and one of the country’s leading playwrights.
Responsible for many TV dramas including the BAFTA nominated Band of Gold, Playing the Field and Fat Friends, Kay’s writing talent was also brought to the big screen with Girls' Night which starred Julie Walters and Brenda Blethyn.
As well as writing, Kay Mellor also directed the British film Fanny and Elvis.
The show features selections of songs from Show Boat which will form the first half of the programme followed by medleys from favourite shows including Bugsy Malone, Little Shop of Horrors, Evita and Les Miserables.
Those who missed the Players production of Crazy for You earlier this year will remember the run was cut short due to damage caused to the safety curtain at Harrogate Theatre.
The Players are pleased to be able to perform a specially recreated medley of numbers from that show.
l Ticket prices are £10 and are obtainable from the International Centre box office or June Midson telephone 01423 562920. Performance at 7.30pm.
